The nightmare continues in Mary Skelter 2!
In this first-person dungeon crawler, you play as characters inspired by fairy tales called Blood Maidens, each with specific, deeply customizable classes.
Balance strength and madness in turn-based battles with a blood-fueled transformation system and escape from a living prison while indestructible Nightmares chase you in real-time.
This game also includes the first part of the series, Mary Skelter Nightmares.
Another major aspect of dungeon exploration is the unique Nightmare creature that roams its prison.
Initially, Nightmares cannot be killed; they can only be repulsed by wounding them in combat or avoided by fleeing. Only after destroying the core of a prison can you truly fight a Nightmare.
An annoying problem is that there will be times when the story or an encounter with a Nightmare prevents you from saving, healing, or leaving the dungeon.
It is imperative that you save regularly and whenever possible as there are no autosaves or even a quick save feature.
The idea of being chased and having to escape the Nightmares early on reminds me of the enemies in the Etrian Odyssey games, and their grotesque design and limited vulnerability are interesting departures.
